Director of Teams

A powerhouse of passion, innovation, and leadership, George Folau serves as Director of Teams at Coastal Currents Conservatory — bringing years of professional dance experience, championship coaching, and community-driven teaching to the heart of our competition program.

George began his dance journey in 2007 at the start of his college career. After earning an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Arts from the College of San Mateo and a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism from San Francisco State University, he committed fully to a career in dance and education.

🕺 Training & Professional Experience:

• Alumni of the acclaimed Academy of Villains (2009–2011)

• Company dancer with Mind Over Matter, directed by Allan Frias

• Competitive coach and choreographer at Kirkpatrick's School of Dance

• Guest choreographer for the Golden State Warriors halftime performances

• Former Dance Program Coordinator for the San Mateo Police Activities League (PAL)

• 2x State & National Championship Wins with Mercy High School Burlingame as Hip Hop Coach & Assistant Coach for Pom and Lyrical

• Regional and National Overalls as a dancer, choreographer, and coach in Hip Hop and Contemporary

• Celebrated for high-impact, musical choreography and building confident, authentic performers

As Director of Teams, George leads with heart and discipline — creating a supportive and motivating environment for every dancer. His vision ensures that every CCC team member is challenged, celebrated, and prepared to thrive both on and off the stage.

At the heart of Coastal Currents Conservatory's Competition Teams is Gary Ferguson, a nationally recognized choreographer, teacher, and director with an unmatched record of success and innovation in the world of competitive dance.

Gary brings decades of experience — from Broadway stages to national tours — but his greatest pride comes from mentoring young dancers and leading them to victory with passion, discipline, and purpose.
