Student & Parent Code of Conduct
At Coastal Currents Conservatory (CCC), we are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and uplifting environment for all students, families, faculty, and staff. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations and standards to ensure all participants feel supported and respected in their creative journeys.
đź’¬ Communication & Conduct Expectations
For Students:
Treat all instructors, staff, and fellow students with kindness, respect, and professionalism.
Arrive on time, dressed appropriately, and prepared to participate fully.
Use appropriate language and behavior at all times—on campus, online, and in all CCC-affiliated events.
Listen actively, follow instructions, and contribute to a positive learning space.
Support peers, celebrate effort, and uplift one another’s successes.
For Parents/Guardians:
Model respectful communication with staff, students, and other families.
Trust our trained CCC staff to manage casting, creative decisions, and student emotions, including disappointment.
Refrain from coaching or correcting your child during class, rehearsal, or performance.
Address concerns through the proper channels (see below), not in front of students or other families.
Help foster an environment of cooperation, gratitude, and grace—even in moments of challenge or disagreement.
🎠Casting & Creative Decisions
Casting is an integral part of the performing arts and often comes with both joy and disappointment. Please know:
CCC makes all casting decisions based on age-appropriateness, skill, attitude, attendance, and what best serves the production and ensemble.
Our staff is trained to support students through casting outcomes. We ask parents to support their children with grace and trust the process.
Disrespect, public complaints, or attempts to undermine the casting process will not be tolerated.
🛡️ Reporting Concerns & Making a Complaint
If a student, parent, or guardian feels they have been unfairly treated or observes behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, they should report it directly to the following:
Primary Points of Contact:
For classes or rehearsals: Director, Teaching Artist, or Stage Manager
For performances or events: House Manager or Production Lead
You may also email a formal concern to: aloha@coastalcurrents.org
All reports will be reviewed confidentially and respectfully. If the issue cannot be resolved at the staff level, it will be escalated to the CCC Administrative Leadership.
⚖️ Disciplinary Action & Consequences
Coastal Currents Conservatory reserves the right to take the following actions based on the severity of any conduct violation:
Verbal or written warning
Temporary suspension from a class or program
Dismissal from a production or performance
Termination of enrollment without refund
Notification of law enforcement in the case of criminal behavior
đźš« Retaliation Policy
Retaliation of any kind—including gossip, exclusion, or intimidation—against a student, staff member, or parent who raises a concern will not be tolerated. CCC will investigate and take appropriate action if retaliation is reported.
🧠Final Note
Participation in CCC programs is a privilege. We take great pride in creating a safe harbor for creativity, personal growth, and artistic exploration. We expect everyone—students, parents, and staff—to uphold this shared responsibility.
Together, let’s create a space where every voice can rise with the tide.
